Duterte signs PHP165.5B Bayanihan 2 into law

President Rodrigo Duterte signed into law the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act (Bayanihan 2) on Friday, providing a PHP165.5 billion fund for pandemic response and recovery.

The new law grants the President special powers until December 19, 2020, succeeding the original Bayanihan to Heal as One Act which expired in June.

Senators welcomed the signing, noting that it will ensure continuous government support for healthcare and affected sectors like agriculture, tourism, transportation, and MSMEs.

The Duterte administration committed to submitting monthly reports to Congress on how the funds are utilized, maintaining transparency and accountability.
