Duterte faces charges over joke about killing senators

Former President Rodrigo Duterte made a controversial joke about killing 15 senators to guarantee seats for his senatorial candidates during the proclamation rally on February 13.

Senate President Francis 'Chiz' Escudero stated that he does not feel threatened by Duterte's remark and believes other senators do not either, dismissing any plans of bringing the issue before courts.

Escudero suggested responding through elections rather than legal action, emphasizing the importance of addressing such statements through the ballot.

The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) has filed criminal complaints against Duterte for unlawful utterances and inciting to sedition at the Department of Justice.
