Congress extends Bayanihan II validity until June

Congress has approved extending the validity of the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act (Bayanihan II) by six months until June 30, 2021.

The House of Representatives passed HB No. 8063 on Monday with 179 affirmative votes, while the Senate approved it on Tuesday.

President Duterte certified the bill as urgent, allowing the House to approve it on second and third reading on the same day.

Bayanihan II provides P165.5 billion for programs aiding economic recovery, coronavirus testing, contact tracing, and assistance to health frontliners.
