Philippines imposes travel ban on Indonesia due to COVID surge

The Philippines has imposed a travel ban on inbound travelers from Indonesia due to the country's surge in COVID-19 cases.

President Duterte implemented the ban starting July 16 until July 31, affecting homebound overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who may face displacement and visa extension issues.

Malacañang stated that the ban was timely and necessary to prevent further spread of the virus variants.

Before July 16, travelers from Indonesia can still enter but must quarantine for 14 days in a government-accredited facility regardless of their RT-PCR test results.
