DSWD releases PHP23M aid to Siargao typhoon victims

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) released PHP23 million to assist 4,602 households in Dapa town, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte, affected by Typhoon Odette.

Each household received PHP5,000 cash assistance through the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program to help them buy food and other necessary items.

In addition to the AICS cash aid, relief packages consisting of food and non-food items have been provided by various government agencies, local government units, government officials, and the private sector.

The DSWD has also initiated the distribution of additional relief packs including hygiene kits, sleeping kits, and water in affected areas.
