DSWD provides PHP48.14M aid for TS Ferdie and Mount Kanlaon unrest

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has provided PHP48.14 million in humanitarian aid to families affected by Tropical Storm Ferdie and Mount Kanlaon's volcanic unrest.

Of the total aid, PHP37.67 million was given to those impacted by Mount Kanlaon's activities, including its June eruption, while PHP10.47 million went to victims of TS Ferdie; as of now, DSWD has distributed over PHP37.9 million in assistance to residents affected by the unrest of Mount Kanlaon.

The latest aid includes P15.9 million in financial support through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program and more than 17,000 family food packs delivered to local government units.

Currently, 17,279 families or 57,000 individuals across Western Visayas and Central Visayas are affected by Mount Kanlaon's unrest, with DSWD monitoring 23 affected barangays in Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental.

Victims of TS Ferdie received food packs and PHP73,000 in cash assistance, impacting a total of 98,274 families or 357,906 people across multiple regions; additionally, over 32,000 family food packs have been distributed to families affected by Tropical Cyclones Ferdie and Gener, as well as the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).
