DSWD calls for one evacuation center per municipality

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is calling for one evacuation center per municipality across the country to prevent class disruptions during calamities.

During a National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council briefing on Typhoon Karding, DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo emphasized the importance of having dedicated evacuation centers in typhoon- and flood-prone areas.

Tulfo noted that schools are often used as makeshift evacuation centers, leading to class interruptions when residents seek shelter there.
