DSWD-5 prepares PHP273M relief for Tropical Depression Crising

The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Bicol (DSWD-5) has over 254,000 family food packs on standby as Tropical Depression Crising approaches.

Claudio Villareal, chief of DSWD-5's Disaster Response Management Division, stated that the total worth of available relief resources is PHP273 million and includes non-food items such as sleeping kits, family kits, hygiene kits, and kitchen kits.

DSWD-5 has also dispatched 3,200 ready-to-eat food (RTEF) packs to DSWD 8 (Eastern Visayas) in response to the impacts of Severe Tropical Storm Crising and the enhanced southwest monsoon, underscoring DSWD's strengthened coordination for disaster response.

Tropical Depression Crising is expected to bring heavy rains to several provinces in the Bicol region, including Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate.

A distribution of RTEF packs is scheduled in Pasacao, Camarines Sur on Saturday to assist stranded individuals at the port.
