MMDA bans bikes on EDSA, DPWH eyes dedicated lanes

The MMDA said bicycles are not yet allowed on EDSA due to the lack of dedicated lanes.

MMDA Undersecretary Jojo Garcia stated that without proper bike lanes, safety concerns prevent allowing bikes on EDSA.

Despite this, workers have called for a change in policy, citing biking as an essential mode of transportation during the health crisis.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar revealed plans to set up dedicated bike lanes on EDSA and other major thoroughfares in Metro Manila.

Villar said they are currently coordinating with DOTr to install dedicated bus lanes and allocate a lane for bicycles on EDSA.
