DOTr extends MRT, LRT hours temporarily for holidays, cites safety concerns

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has stated that permanently extending MRT and LRT operating hours is not feasible due to safety concerns.

Maintenance during non-operating hours includes critical activities necessary for safe operations like inspections and repairs.

For the holiday season, DOTr announced temporary adjustments in opening and closing times but will revert to regular schedules afterward.

The agency highlighted that other transportation modes such as EDSA bus carousel and jeepneys are available on a 24-hour basis.
