MRT3 reverts to one-meter rule inside trains

MRT3 management announced on Saturday that they are reverting to a one-meter distancing rule inside trains, in compliance with President Rodrigo Duterte's directive.

The DOTr will strictly enforce the physical distancing policy in public transport, as announced by Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

President Duterte decided to maintain the one-meter distance policy inside mass public transport vehicles after discussions with health officials and mayors of Metro Manila.

Metro Manila Council chairman Edwin Olivarez welcomed the decision, stating that it was a consensus among NCR mayors.

The DOH supported the move, citing international studies which show that combining mask-wearing, face shields, and physical distancing can provide up to 99 percent protection against virus transmission.
