Duque, Año: One-meter distance in mass transport better for virus prevention

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and Interior Secretary Eduardo Año reiterated on Wednesday that a one-meter distance in mass transport vehicles is better for preventing virus spread.

Año stated at a press conference that this standard is 'non-negotiable' based on scientific evidence and WHO protocol.

On Monday, September 14th, even before the easing of distancing rules to 0.75 meters by the DOTr, Año expressed personal preference for maintaining the one-meter distance.

Duque explained that greater physical distance reduces risk and provides better protection against COVID-19.

Despite this stance, Año acknowledged he was not present at the meeting where the easing of distancing rules was approved but had voiced his reservations.
