DOTr assures no train fare hikes despite fuel price increases

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) assured Thursday that train fares for LRT1, LRT2, MRT3, and PNR will not increase despite rising petroleum prices.

DOTr Undersecretary Timothy John Batan stated at a briefing that Secretary Arthur Tugade instructed there are no plans to raise train fares.

MRT3 Director for Operations Engr. Mike Capati said Tuesday that there have been no discussions about increasing MRT3 fares, emphasizing the focus on helping commuters rather than adding more burden.
