DOT backs use of tourist sites for temporary hospitals and vaccine centers

The Department of Tourism (DOT) is supporting the construction of temporary hospitals and medical facilities in tourism sites to aid the fight against COVID-19.

Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said the DOT is honored to use its parks and public spaces for this purpose, thanking Manila Mayor Isko Moreno for granting access to Rizal Park.

A mega field hospital at Burnham Green in Rizal Park can accommodate 500 patients with mild to moderate symptoms, while Quirino Grandstand will serve as a drive-thru vaccination center for up to 450 people daily.
