DOT warns of travel disruptions due to weather in Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao

The Department of Tourism (DOT) on Tuesday urged tourists and stakeholders to reconsider travel plans due to heavy rainfall and strong winds affecting parts of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Tourists are advised to check with airlines, ferry operators, and other transport providers regarding the status of scheduled trips before proceeding.

The DOT identified several regions that may experience significant disruptions, including Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), National Capital Region (NCR), Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, and Western Visayas.

Hotels, tour operators, and transport services were urged to prepare for possible service interruptions and provide appropriate assistance to tourists.

Tourists are reminded of the risk of rough seas over coastal waters in Batanes, Kalayaan Islands, Zambales, Bataan, Lubang Island, Occidental Mindoro, and Calamian Islands as well as moderate seas along other identified seaboards.

The DOT's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee is coordinating with local government units to monitor developments and provide assistance as needed.
