Pagasa issues red warnings for parts of Metro Manila, Bataan, Zambales, Batangas, Cavite due to Habagat, Emong

State meteorologists maintained red rainfall warnings for parts of Metro Manila, Bataan, Zambales, Batangas, and Cavite due to ongoing southwest monsoon (Habagat), raising concerns over severe flooding.

As of Thursday morning, Pagasa reported that Zambales, Bataan, Batangas, and Cavite are under orange warnings with expected rainfall between 15 mm to 30 mm.

Metro Manila, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, and Quezon are under yellow alerts, advised to prepare for possible flooding in low-lying areas with expected rainfall ranging from 7.5 mm to 15 mm.

Residents are urged to take immediate precautions such as moving to higher ground or avoiding flooded roads as several main thoroughfares were already inundated by Monday evening.

Pagasa also reported that Tropical Depression Emong developed and may intensify, reaching severe tropical storm category before making landfall on Friday. Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Dante maintained its strength and is located west of the Babuyan Islands.
