DOT facilitates chartered flight for 31 stranded tourists in Siargao

The Department of Tourism in the Caraga Region facilitated a chartered flight on March 29 that flew out 31 stranded foreign tourists from Siargao Island, bringing the total number of foreign tourists flown out this month to 462.

This was the sixth chartered flight organized by DOT-13 to assist distressed tourists due to community quarantines implemented to curb the spread of COVID-19.

As of now, there are still 77 foreign tourists stranded in the region with flights booked until April 14.

The DOT has assisted a total of 1,044 foreign tourists stranded across Caraga since travel restrictions were imposed, with at least 416 availing of sweeper flights from Siargao Island to Clark International Airport or P2P bus trips to NAIA.
