DOLE releases PHP23.7M aid to Soccsksargen displaced OFWs

The DOLE has released PHP23.7 million in financial assistance to 2,379 displaced OFWs in Soccsksargen affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each OFW will receive a one-time PHP10,000 cash grant via PESONet electronic funds transfer service.

As of May 1, close to 86,000 OFWs globally have received assistance under DOLE's financial aid program with over 336,000 applications processed.

OWWA is also helping stranded OFWs from the region return home through negotiations for more 'sweeper flights' and special needs cases flown back via military aircraft.
