Promising doctor Bactol dies from COVID-19

Dr Israel Bactol, a 34-year-old physician dedicated to serving his community, died on March 21 after battling COVID-19.

Bactol was known for his academic achievements and dedication to medicine, including being a scholar throughout college and medical school, chief resident during internal medicine residency training, and a cardiology fellow-in-training at the Philippine Heart Center.

Despite his promising career, Bactol succumbed to the virus that has claimed over 50 lives in the Philippines, including other healthcare workers.

Dr Tom-Louie Acosta described Bactol as someone who stood out among brilliant physicians.
