DOJ: Sabungero case probe not targeting specific individuals

An official from the Department of Justice (DOJ) assured on Saturday that the investigation into the case of missing cockfight aficionados, known as 'sabungeros,' is not targeting any specific individual or group.

Justice Undersecretary Raul Vasquez emphasized during a news forum in Quezon City that investigators are currently collating pieces of evidence to strengthen potential cases for prosecution and stressed that the government expects a fair probe.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had previously ordered a thorough investigation into the case, emphasizing accountability for those involved in the alleged abduction and murder.

Despite some influential personalities being implicated by whistleblower Julie Patidongan, including police officers, a showbiz personality, and gaming tycoon Atong Ang, Vasquez stressed that the focus is solely on gathering evidence and holding accountable those found responsible.
