DOH seeks alternatives as Marcos hesitates to extend state of calamity

The DOH is considering alternatives to ensure continuity of the COVID-19 vaccination program after President Marcos Jr. expressed hesitation in extending the state of calamity beyond December 31.

Marcos stated that continuing the state of calamity would be a wrong mindset for welcoming the New Year, while the DOH requested an extension due to delays in enacting the CDC bill.

The CDC bill, which would allow the government to take actions similar to those under a state of calamity without officially declaring one, was not enacted on time.
