DOH logs lowest daily infections at 168

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 168 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, December 21st, the lowest single-day infection count since no data was submitted by 24 laboratories.

Recovered cases reached 2,777,354 or 97.9% of total case count as active cases dropped to 9,592 after logging 390 new recoveries on Monday.

On Saturday, December 18th, the DOH logged 291 new infections and 523 new recoveries, bringing the death toll to 50,675 with 106 new fatalities.

OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David warned of a potential surge if the Omicron variant enters the Philippines but noted that Friday's slight uptick in cases is likely due to backlog reporting.
