DOH issues health advisories near erupting Mt. Kanlaon

The Department of Health (DOH) has issued health advisories for residents near Mt. Kanlaon following its eruption on Monday evening.

Residents are advised to wear masks, close gaps in their homes to prevent ash and toxic gases from entering, and protect their eyes with safety goggles if available.

The DOH also emphasized the importance of keeping food clean and safe, adhering to government evacuation orders, and staying informed through local officials.

Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa stated that regional health centers have been on alert and are distributing face masks, safety goggles, hygiene kits, water cans, and disaster relief tents since Monday.

PHIVOLCS raised Alert Level 2 over Mt. Kanlaon due to increased volcanic activity, including steam emissions and ground deformation, indicating potential further explosive eruptions.
