COA finds DOH had P59B unspent budget, P67B deficiencies

The Commission on Audit (COA) found the Department of Health (DOH) had unspent P59 billion and deficiencies worth P67 billion in its 2020 budget, despite the ongoing pandemic.

Vice President Leni Robredo criticized the Duterte administration's claim of insufficient funds for the pandemic response, citing COA's findings on DOH's non-compliance with laws and regulations.

COA identified issues such as lack of transparency, irregular procurement processes, and unobligated funds totaling P11.89 billion.

P42.41 billion was transferred to partner agencies without proper documentation, raising doubts about the regularity of related transactions.
