DOH projects MECQ could lower NCR COVID-19 cases by end-Sep

DOH projects that implementing a six-week MECQ in Metro Manila could lower the number of active COVID-19 cases by end-September.

Projections show 66,403 cases by Aug 31 and 269,694 cases by Sept 30 if a two-week ECQ is followed by four weeks of MECQ with current levels of vaccination and compliance to health protocols.

Vergeire emphasizes the need for increased vaccination rates and immediate isolation of infected individuals to reduce case numbers.

Current active cases in Metro Manila stand at 32,039 as of Aug 19.
