DOH: Active COVID-19 cases exceed 5,000

As of Wednesday, the Philippines' active COVID-19 cases exceeded 5,000, reaching a total of 5,113, the highest since May 3.

New cases reported on Wednesday were 593, bringing the national tally to 3,697,793.

Recoveries increased by 333 to 3,632,196 while deaths rose by eight to 60,484.

Metro Manila had the highest number of cases in the last two weeks with 2,793 infections, followed by CALABARZON and other regions.

Philippine hospitals' COVID-19 occupancy rate remains at a safe level with 17.5 percent or 29,967 occupied beds nationwide.
