DOH: 80% senior vaccine coverage needed for Alert Level 1

Philippine Health Secretary Francisco Duque III stated that at least 80% of senior citizens (A2 group) and seriously ill adults (A3 group) must be vaccinated before an area can be de-escalated to Alert Level 1.

Duque emphasized the importance of this metric during a Cabinet meeting, noting that if vaccination targets are not met, areas cannot transition to less restrictive measures.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. highlighted the need to vaccinate the remaining 3 million seniors and seriously ill individuals, as daily vaccinations have been halved to 500,000 due to low turnout during recent national vaccination days.
