Gov't warns local execs against abusing authority during COVID-19

The government has warned local officials against abusing their authority during the COVID-19 crisis, following reports of barangay officials selling quarantine passes.

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles stated that quarantine passes should be distributed for free and assured punishment for those engaging in unscrupulous activities.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año warned LGU and barangay officials against taking advantage of the enhanced community quarantine for personal gain, threatening suspension or imprisonment for those found guilty.
