DILG supports revival of Tour of Luzon cycling event, set to start April 24

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has shown support for the revival of the Tour of Luzon, a cycling event returning after years of hiatus on April 24 in Paoay, Ilocos Norte.

DILG Secretary Juanito Victor 'Jonvic' Remulla emphasized the importance of fostering sports consciousness and promoting camaraderie among participants through this event and is expected to grace the opening ceremony on Wednesday, April 23.

Local government units are encouraged to ensure the smooth conduct of the eight-stage tour, which covers at least 60 cities and municipalities in seven provinces across North and Central Luzon.

Presented by the MVP Group's Metro Pacific Tollways Corp., the Tour offers P500,000 to the individual overall winner and P1 million to the team champion, with seventeen teams from the Philippines and abroad participating, including foreign teams from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Taiwan, and South Korea.

The 1,074.90-kilometer tour starts on April 24 and concludes in Baguio City on its eighth stage.
