Converge wins Commissioner's Cup opener 116-87

Converge opened their PBA Season 49 Commissioner's Cup campaign with a strong victory over Terrafirma, winning 116-87 on Wednesday at the PhilSports Arena.

Cheick Diallo, Converge's import player and former NBA player, made an impressive debut with 25 points and 16 rebounds, while Justin Arana led the local players with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Coach Franco Atienza praised Diallo for his high-motor performance, noting that he fits well within the team's chemistry and is a valuable addition to Converge’s roster.

Terrafirma struggled despite bringing in new faces but played without acquisitions Terrence Romeo and Vic Manuel due to Romeo's injury and an undisclosed illness for Manuel, resulting in a rough defeat for their new coach Raymond Tiongco.

Converge relied heavily on their three-point shooting and aggressive offense, making 14 triples throughout the game and nine in the second half to extend their lead.

Jordan Heading made his PBA debut with solid contributions of 8 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds, further bolstering Converge's performance.
