Defensor: Bayanihan 2 funds OFW repatriation

House Assistant Majority Leader Mike Defensor announced an additional budget for repatriating at least 100,000 overseas Filipino workers who lost jobs due to COVID-19 under Bayanihan 2.

The DFA has facilitated the repatriation of over 96,000 distressed Filipinos since the pandemic began, with 41,981 seafarers and 54,247 land-based workers among them.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. said the DFA will realign its remaining P2.5 billion capital outlay fund for repatriation efforts and continue assisting Filipinos who wish to return home.
