DOLE to help OFWs regain lost jobs

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III assured that the government will help overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) regain their jobs lost due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Bello stated that as other countries ease restrictions and reopen their economies, there is a possibility of OFWs being rehired by former employers.

The DOLE is committed to providing assistance required by OFWs, including engaging with foreign governments on safety and health measures against the virus.

Bello mentioned that the government can provide necessary certifications to prove OFWs are not a threat to public health.

He also raised the possibility of mass rehiring of OFWs in recovering economies, requiring transportation logistics such as chartered flights if needed.
