DepEd: No face-to-face classes this school year

Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Leonor Briones announced that face-to-face classes will not be allowed in the coming school year due to the ongoing threat of COVID-19.

Briones emphasized during a public briefing on Thursday that there is no conflict between her department's stance and President Rodrigo Duterte's opposition to resuming physical classes.

She stated, 'We will not allow face-to-face physical interaction among students. DepEd will not permit this.'.

On Sunday, the DepEd had previously indicated that the conduct of face-to-face classes would depend on the risk level in each area.
