DENR detects possible site of sunken MT Princess Empress

The DENR reported on Monday that BRP Hydrographer Ventura has detected a possible site where the sunken MT Princess Empress is located, approximately 400 meters below sea level northeast of Pola town in Oriental Mindoro.

Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito Dolor confirmed the exact location of the tanker following a phone call with Environment Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga. The tanker was found to be around 7.5 nautical miles from Balingawan Point, facing Pola town.

The discovery is crucial for determining which areas will be affected by the oil spill and for deploying ROVs for further verification.
