Mika De Guzman defends women's singles title at Philippine Badminton Open

Mika De Guzman successfully defended her women's singles title at the 2024 Philippine Badminton Open by defeating Ysabel Amora in a closely contested match on Tuesday, June 11.

De Guzman, who is an incoming fourth-year student-athlete at Ateneo de Manila University and a three-time UAAP MVP, expressed gratitude to her coaches for their support and credited them for strengthening her mental and physical preparation.

Jelo Albo of Smash Pilipinas claimed the men's singles title by defeating Clarence Villaflor with a decisive victory of 21-13, 21-9.

Lea Inlayo and Nicole Albo successfully defended their women's doubles title by defeating Kimberly Lao and Patricia De Dios from UP in straight games.

Ariel Magnaye and Christian Bernardo secured the men's doubles title after reigning champions Solomon Padiz Jr. and Julius Villabrille retired due to an injury, winning a hard-fought match of 22-20, 15-21, 20-17.

Bernardo also clinched another title with Alyssa Leonardo in mixed doubles by defeating Villabrille and Albo in three tight sets.
