5 Zamboanga candidates file COCs for mayor, including Dalipes and Olaso

Two sitting congressmen from Zamboanga City and four other candidates have filed their certificates of candidacy for the mayoral race in the 2025 midterm elections.

House Majority Leader Manuel Jose 'Mannix' Dalipe, along with his brother John (the incumbent mayor), and Congressman Khymer Olaso are among those who submitted their COCs on Tuesday, October 8, beating the deadline set by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Olaso is running under Team Zamboanga, a coalition including the Liberal Party, Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino, and Adelante Zamboanga Party. His running mate is former Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco.

Dalipe's campaign focuses on engaging local village officials to drive progress in Zamboanga City, with Councilor Vino Guingona as his running mate under the Lakas-CMD banner.

Incumbent Mayor John Dalipe and Vice Mayor Josephine Pareja are also filing for congressional seats; Mayor Dalipe aims to push for a new airport project.
