DA reports stable fish prices ahead of Holy Week, slight decrease in galunggong

Fish prices remain stable across the Philippines ahead of the Holy Week, according to the Department of Agriculture (DA).

Assistant Secretary Arnel De Mesa reported that milkfish costs PHP240 per kg while tilapia is priced at PHP160 per kg.

The DA noted a slight decrease in the price of galunggong from PHP300 last month to PHP240 currently, reflecting a downward trend.

De Mesa explained that minimal price adjustments may occur during Holy Week due to increased fish consumption on Good Friday but will only last for three to five days.

The DA assured consumers of a stable supply of fish despite the expected rise in demand during Holy Week following the end of a fishing ban in February.
