DA: Odette damages PH agriculture to P9B

The damage to the Philippines' agriculture sector due to Typhoon Odette (Rai) has surpassed P9 billion as of Friday, December 31.

Odette damaged over 351,000 hectares of agricultural land and caused a production loss of 194,671 metric tons.

The typhoon affected 132,658 farmers and fishers in multiple regions including Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao, Soccsksargen, and Caraga.

Fisheries suffered P3 billion in damage, followed by the rice sector with P1.9 billion in losses.
