DA allocates P8.5B to help typhoon-hit farmers, fisherfolk

The Department of Agriculture (DA) has allocated P8.5 billion to assist farmers and fisherfolk affected by recent typhoons.

Agriculture Undersecretary Ariel Cayanan said the funds, sourced from Bayanihan 2 law allocations, quick response funds, emergency loans, and attached agencies, will provide aid in the form of seeds, fertilizers, farm machinery, livestock animals, veterinary drugs, fingerlings, boats, postharvest equipment, and insurance coverage.

Cagayan Valley received P2.34 billion, while Bicol region got P1.07 billion; Mimaropa (P914 million), Calabarzon (P736 million), Cordillera Administrative Region (P382 million), Ilocos region (P313.8 million), and Central Luzon (P281.5 million) also received aid.
