DILG: No mandate for worker COVID-19 tests

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año clarified on Friday that the national government does not require workers and employees to undergo COVID-19 tests before returning to their jobs.

Some local government units have been issuing orders mandating companies to test their employees, but there is no official directive from the national government.

Año emphasized that firms can conduct screening for employees showing symptoms of COVID-19, but testing should not be mandatory.

'Returning employees must fill out a disclosure form detailing their activities over the last 14 days and any contact with confirmed cases,' Año added.

Earlier, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello stated that only symptomatic individuals should be required to undergo testing.
