DOH: PH flattening COVID-19 curve based on positivity rate

The Department of Health (DOH) claims that the Philippines has begun to flatten the curve based on a 10% test positivity rate.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire stated this during a briefing, despite the country recording an additional 120 cases, bringing the total confirmed COVID-19 cases to 10,463.

Vergeire noted that the positivity rate was 17% in early April but has dropped to 10% in early May.

However, Vergeire emphasized that progress is slow and urged caution against interpreting this as a dramatic flattening of the curve.
