Philippines reports 1,594 new COVID-19 cases

As of Wednesday, July 22, the Philippines has recorded a total of 72,269 confirmed coronavirus cases with 1,594 new infections.

Most of the new cases were from Metro Manila (971), followed by Cebu (252), Zamboanga del Sur (53), Negros Occidental (35), and Rizal province (26).

The death toll increased to 1,843 with six new fatalities recorded on Wednesday.

There were also 342 recoveries reported, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 23,623.

Active cases stood at 46,803 as of Wednesday, with nine out of ten listed as mild.
