DOJ: 301 BuCor inmates, staff infected with COVID-19

As of Thursday, June 18, a total of 301 inmates and prison staff at the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) have tested positive for COVID-19.

Of these cases, 223 are inmates with 141 from New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City and 82 from Correctional Institute for Women in Mandaluyong City.

Seventy-eight BuCor personnel have also been infected – 38 from New Bilibid Prison, seven from CIW, and 33 from the national headquarters.

Sixteen inmates have died while 145 individuals have recovered.

No new cases were reported until June 15, according to Justice Undersecretary Markk Perete.
