Converge beats Terrafirma 127-95 in PBA Governors' Cup opener

Converge secured a dominant 127-95 victory over Terrafirma in their opening game of the PBA Governors' Cup on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Scotty Hopson, an NBA journeyman making his PBA debut, led Converge with an explosive performance, scoring 46 points and hitting all three attempts from the four-point line while providing strong leadership to the young team.

Alec Stockton contributed significantly with 21 points, Schonny Winston added 14 points, six rebounds, and four assists, and Justin Arana delivered a solid game with 13 points and six rebounds as Converge extended their lead by up to 33 points in the second half.

Terrafirma's debut of new acquisitions Christian Standhardinger and Stanley Pringle was marred by defeat despite Pringle scoring 19 points and Standhardinger contributing 17 points.

Converge shares the provisional group lead with Meralco Bolts after this win under acting coach Franco Atienza and consultants Rajko Toroman and Charles Tiu, while TNT Tropang Giga also secured a victory in their opening game.

Import Antonio Hester made a strong return to the PBA with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists after replacing Brandon Edwards who suffered an ACL injury.
