Comelec holds raffle for party-list placements, Garcia urges compliance

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) held an electronic raffle on Friday to determine the placements of 156 party-list organizations for the May 2025 polls.

4PS secured the top spot, followed by PPP and FPJ Panday Bayanihan among others, with the first 10 slots also going to Kabataan, Duterte Youth, Mamamayang Liberal, PBBM, P3PWD, Murang Kuryente, and Bicol Saro.

Comelec chairman George Garcia urged party-list groups to ensure their nominees are qualified and that campaigns follow rules and election resolutions.

Garcia also expressed support for reviewing and revising the current law to address issues like nominee qualifications and seat allocation in line with Supreme Court decisions.

De La Salle University professor Dr. Julio Teehankee suggested strengthening the party-list system through reform rather than abolishing it, emphasizing the need for a review of the existing laws to align better with constitutional principles.
