Comelec dismisses petition against Bagong Henerasyon

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) First Division dismissed a petition filed by Russel Stanley Geronimo to disqualify the Bagong Henerasyon Party-list and its nominees on technical grounds.

Geronimo failed to personally serve copies of the petition to the respondents as required, opting instead for registered mail without providing an affidavit explaining why personal service was not possible, and did not submit a copy of the Certificate of Nomination-Certificate of Acceptance of Nomination (CON-CAN).

Due to these violations, the Comelec First Division dismissed the petition on May 22.

Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia stated that Bagong Henerasyon can be proclaimed once the decision becomes final and executory after a motion for reconsideration period or appeal within five days.

The party list won a seat in the House of Representatives following the May 12 elections, but its proclamation was suspended due to pending petitions.
