Comelec aims to proclaim winning senators over weekend

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) aims to proclaim the winning senators and party-list groups over the weekend, with the earliest proclamation expected either Saturday or Sunday.

Chairperson George Erwin Garcia announced that Comelec needs at least one day for venue preparation and formal invitations before the proclamation can take place.

Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco stated that a partial official tally of votes would be released starting Wednesday based on certificates of canvass (COCs) from Tuesday, with 100 COCs planned to be processed on Wednesday.

Garcia expressed optimism about completing the canvassing process by Thursday night and emphasized the importance of early proclamation for national unity and stability.

Sagip Party-list Representative Rodante Marcoleta previously filed a motion asking Comelec to proclaim the top six senatorial candidates based on partial counts, but Garcia urged candidates to wait for full proclamation.
