Classes suspended or shifted due to Taal smog

Classes in parts of Batangas, Laguna, and Rizal were suspended or shifted to modular distance learning on Monday due to volcanic smog from Taal Volcano.

The Office of Civil Defense – Calabarzon announced the suspensions and shifts for all levels in public and private schools across multiple municipalities and cities in Batangas.

Specifically, areas like Agoncillo, Alitagtag, Batangas City, Bauan, Calaca City, Cuenca, Laurel, Lemery, Lian, Lipa City, Malvar, Mataasnakahoy, Nasugbu, Padre Garcia, Rosario, San Juan, San Luis, San Pascual, Sto. Tomas, Taal, Tanauan City, Taysan, and Tuy will shift to modular distance learning.

In some areas like San Jose, Balete, Ibaan, Balayan, San Nicolas, Calatagan, and Sta. Teresita in Batangas, classes were fully suspended.

Taal Volcano remains under Alert Level 1 according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
