Classes suspended in Metro Manila amid transport strike

Face-to-face classes have been suspended or shifted to online learning across several areas of Metro Manila and other regions due to a nationwide transport strike planned for October 16.

The Manibela transport group is protesting the jeepney phaseout under the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program, with about 240,000 traditional jeepneys expected to join the strike.

Local governments in areas such as Laguna, Pampanga, Pangasinan, and Manila have suspended or shifted classes to online learning from October 16 to 17.

Universities including De La Salle University, Adamson University, National University, San Beda University, the University of Santo Tomas, Lyceum of the Philippines University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, and Ateneo de Manila University have also shifted to online classes or work arrangements.
