Chinese militia vessels near Pag-asa Island ignore PH warnings

Chinese militia vessels near Pag-asa Island in the West Philippine Sea are not responding to warnings from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

The PCG reported on Saturday that 42 suspected Chinese maritime militia vessels were seen near Pag-asa Island.

As of Monday, these vessels remained within 4.5 to 8 nautical miles of the island despite strong currents and waves.

On Sunday, a PLA Navy vessel and CCG vessel 5203 were also spotted near Thitu Island (Pag-asa), with distances of 8 and 4 nautical miles respectively.

The PCG stated that these Chinese vessels are within the Philippines' territorial sea and their presence violates Philippine sovereignty.
